When life is challenging, we can all use a little help along the way. Fortunately, the Sunshine Coast offers a wealth of resources to the community, including assistance with legal issues, support with parenting, programs addressing violence, help with aging in place, and much more. In fact, with so many services it can be difficult to know which way to turn.
This is where the Sunshine Coast Community Resource Centre comes in. Are you wondering whether there are resources to help you with your situation? We’re the place to come to!
The Resource Centre is a central hub that can refer you to the most suitable service or program. We spend our time keeping up to date on the available services, so that you don’t have to.
Here are just a few questions we have answers to:
- Where is the food bank?
- Who can help me with income assistance or finding employment?
- Is there a place I can borrow toys for my visiting grandkids?
- Is there someone who can help me fill in this government form?
- Where can I find out about volunteering opportunities on the Sunshine Coast?
- Where can I get information about negotiating with my landlord?
- And if you’ve got a question that we haven’t encountered before, we’ll do our best to find the organization who can answer it.

What does the Resource Centre do?
We are a “one-stop shop”, the first place to come when you’re looking for a community, social or government service or program. We offer support, assistance, and information. We have brochures on various resources and our staff and volunteers can assist you with finding information online. We are able to refer you to the most appropriate program or service for your situation.
Who does the Resource Centre help?
We help anyone who has a question about anything. Everyone is welcome.
How does the Resource Centre work?
You can call us, email us, or drop by our office. A staff member or one of our experienced volunteers will work with you one-on-one in strict confidence. We’ll spend time getting to know your situation so that we can connect you with an organization that can help you take the next step. There is no cost for our service.
How do I contact the Resource Centre?
You may telephone us at 604.885.4088. If you call out of hours, you can leave a message on our confidential answering machine. You can also email us in confidence.
Or you may visit us in person at the Resource Centre in downtown Sechelt, at 5520 Trail Avenue. We are behind the Cowrie Street Shell gas station and across Trail Avenue from the fire hall.
We’re open 10 am to 2pm Monday to Thursday. Just look for this sign.
We’re on a bus route and there is convenient off-street parking. We suggest you telephone first to ensure someone is available. Or you can make an appointment for a convenient time.
