The Hub of Social Services on the Coast

Community Resource Lab

The Sunshine Coast Community Resource Lab is intended to be the “go to” hub for entrepreneurs, social innovators, and anyone wanting to make a difference in our community. The Lab project includes representatives from: Community Futures Sunshine Coast, Sunshine Coast Community Resource Centre, SCREDO, Tsain-Ko Economic Development Corporation, District of Sechelt, Sechelt Downtown Business Association, Sunshine Coast Credit Union and Sechelt Public Library.

On March 16, 2018, representatives of over twenty Sunshine Coast organizations gathered at the invitation of the Community Resource Centre to discuss whether there is an appetite for a shared location for non-profits and social enterprises on the Sunshine Coast. A grant from the BC Rural Dividend Fund allowed us to research the feasibility of such a co-location hub, and consult with the community.

Our Initial Report includes the results of our research and recommendations. At present, a working group is being formed to set out a timeline, work plan and apply for grants to fund the next steps and development of a community hub.
