RainCity Housing – Homeless Services

By on Jun 25, 2019 in Housing, Service Directory - Sunshine Coast BC, Social Services

RainCity Housing operates two shelters;  one in Sechelt and one seasonal shelter in Gibsons, as well as offering year round Outreach Services.

The Sechelt Shelter operates every night, has 20 spaces, and is open all year, at the former Backpacker’s Hostel (5653 Wharf Avenue).

The Gibsons Shelter is a Winter Response Shelter located at the lower level of the Arts Building in the Marine Room (464 South Fletcher) , with up to 20 spaces and operates every year from 6pm to 8am until the end March.

Our Outreach Services work with about 50 individuals and have access to ten rent subsidies. Staff also provide survival supplies such as tents and sleeping bags to people living outside and co-ordinate with the work of the Sunshine Coast Homeless Advisory Council. The community is incredibly supportive, providing meals and other much-needed items on a regular basis – thank you!
