I Want to Volunteer
Looking for a volunteer position on the Sunshine Coast?
Visit govolunteer.ca – the online volunteer opportunities listing for the Sunshine Coast!
The Resource Centre is partnered with Vantage Point to offer Sunshine Coast residents an online volunteer. Member organizations post opportunities directly to the govolunteer.ca website. You, as the volunteer, can view and then contact those organizations.
GoVolunteer now makes it easy to see whether volunteer positions are COVID-19 related and/or if they are virtual (i.e. online or phone based positions).
Several Sunshine Coast organizations manage their own volunteers and can be reached directly. Good places to start are:
- Sunshine Coast Community Services supports Food Bank, Thrift Store and Outreach to Seniors among other supports. Contact 604-865-0283 or ahobbs [at] sccss.ca
- Vancouver Coastal Health supports home bound people through delivering Meals on Wheels, Telephone Tree as well as other programs. Contact 604-885-8517 or scvolunteer [at] vch.ca
- Clayton’s Heritage Market in Sechelt is seeking healthy, low-risk volunteers to shop grocery orders for isolated/quarantined community members. Please email orders [at] claytons.ca
- Sechelt Hospital Foundation is a charitable society with a voluntary board. Through community donations we fund capital and equipment costs and special projects for the Sechelt Hospital. Please contact 604-885-8637 or sh.foundation [at] vch.ca for volunteer opportunities.
The COVID-19 pandemic has introduced limitations to volunteering on the coast. If you are 65 years or older, volunteer positions are limited to reduce your risk of exposure to the Coronavirus.
The Resource Centre also maintains a list of non-profit organizations across the coast that can be contacted.
