Seniors Community Connector

TERMS: Full-time role for 35 hours a week

WAGE: $29 – $34 per hour

LOCATION: This is a community-based role, and requires access to a vehicle and the ability to travel on the Sunshine Coast.

We’re pleased to announce a newly created role for a Seniors Community Connector to join their organization. Join us in creating an environment where seniors can access the resources and support they need to age safely in the right place.

 

The Seniors Community Connector role

The Seniors Community Connector will play a vital role in bridging the gap between healthcare and social care. Collaborating with community and health organizations, you’ll provide non-medical support to older adults to enhance their health and well-being in our community. From conducting assessments to developing personalized care plans, your experience and interpersonal skills will make a meaningful impact on the lives of seniors and their families. 

 

You have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in social service or related Human Services field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of seniors’ issues and challenges related to healthy aging
  • Familiarity with local healthcare systems, particularly on the Sunshine Coast
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent experience working with seniors and diverse populations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance

You are:

  • Able to connect empathetically with seniors and provide effective support
  • Proficient in crisis intervention and conflict resolution
  • Collaborative and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Proficient in computer skills

Community Engagement Assistant (CANADA SUMMER JOBS 2024)

TERMS: 30 hours a week

WAGE: $18 per hour

LOCATION: Resource Centre in Sechelt

CLOSING DATE: May 3, 2024

 

The Community Engagement Assistant Role –  This is a student position under the Canada Summer Jobs program. The Community Engagement Assistant will:

● Support communications, such as coordinating communications strategies for programs, projects & events, including website and social media activities, Enews support, and visual content development for the organization.

● Coordinate an engagement strategy that promotes the programs, services, and opportunities that the Resource Centre offers individuals and organizations on the Sunshine Coast.

● Administrative support to Client Record Management, including data input.

● Offer direct client support for information and referral services, guiding clients to appropriate resources and assisting in problem-solving.

● Assist with Resource Centre operations, including Legal Aid, Poverty Law advocacy, and the Sunshine Coast Poverty Reduction Strategy.

 

To be eligible for this Canada Summer Jobs opportunity, you are:

● Age between 15 and 30 at the start of employment

● Eligible to work in Canada

● Strong interpersonal skills and a reliable team player

● Ability to meet deadlines and attention to detail

● Creative thinking skills, with some events planning experience preferred but not required
