Founded in 1918, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) Foundation is a non-profit organization driven to change what it is to be blind today. We deliver innovative programs and powerful advocacy that empower people impacted by blindness to live their dreams and tear down barriers to inclusion. Our work as a blind foundation is powered by a network of volunteers, donors and partners from coast to coast.

TYPES OF POTENTIAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

  • Vision Mate: The Vision Mate program connects blind or partially sighted individuals with volunteers who assist with everyday tasks like errands, organizing, and social outings based on shared interests. Matches are made locally, with volunteers committing to weekly visits, aiming for long-term connections that often grow into lasting friendships.

Volunteering with CNIB gives you the opportunity to make a difference for individuals who are blind or partially sighted by offering sighted assistance and companionship within your community. You’ll also have the chance to build or apply your skills in client service while joining a passionate and dedicated team of staff and volunteers committed to advancing CNIB’s mission. References or confirmation of hours can be provided upon request.
