The Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counseling and Empowerment (PEACE) program for Children and Youth Experiencing Violence (formerly Children Who Witness Abuse Program) is a free, confidential program across BC for children and youth aged 3 to 18 who have experienced violence against women. The objectives of the PEACE program are: - Stopping the inter-generational cycle of abuse by teaching non-violent ways to resolve conflict- Teaching safety skills and strategies- Promoting the process of healing- Supporting children to understand they are not at fault for the abusive actions of others- Supporting children and youth to label and express feelings they have experienced as a result of abuse witnessed and/or experienced.- Assisting children to understand healthy ways of dealing with anger and expressing anger- Facilitating the understanding of abuse and myths about violence against women
