Kit was born in Montreal to an army officer, and as a result spent a great deal of time travelling. She ended up in the UK after getting married and worked in occupational health and safety risk management at Ranks Hovis McDougall, then Berkshire Area Health Authority, and finally Unigate. She also setup two companies in recruitment and risk management. Eventually after spending 40 years in the UK, Kit and her husband Ray retired to Sechelt. Ray continued his research, and Kit has given her time to various organizations, as a past board member of the Arts Council and the SSAC, and now as frontline support at the Resource Centre.
