James is proudly from the prairies, having grown up in Regina and holding a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan. He began his career with The Co-operators in 1990 in his hometown. When presented with an opportunity in Management, James never looked back and has held a variety of positions in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and finally British Columbia where he has lived since 1994.

Newly retired in 2022, James feels tremendous gratitude for his career, the learning, the opportunities and the relationships. By the end of last year, James was ready for something new, with a strong desire to learn more about the Sunshine Coast community. Volunteering at the Sunshine Coast Resource Centre has been a eye opening experience, with exposure to both supports for the community, but also the many challenges faced across a variety of people groups. Joining the Board is a furthering of that learning, and an opportunity to participate in the journey of the SCRC.
