The syiyaya Reconciliation Movement invites everyone on the shishalh swiya (homelands) to unite for healing from the harm caused by Canada’s history of cultural genocide and residential schools. ‘Syiyaya’ means “family and friends” in shashishalhem, the language of the shishalh people.

This initiative, led by Indigenous and non-Indigenous Sunshine Coast residents, responds to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and seeks systemic change. It focuses on collaborative projects that foster reconciliation through dialogue and relationships.
