We teach, advocate, grow, build and nurture food security which help promote local, resilient and sustainable food systems here on the Sunshine Coast. With hundreds of volunteers, together, we have founded many of the largest farm and food projects events here on the Sunshine Coast… Farmers’ Markets, Community Gardens, Tool Library and more. One Straw Society’s mission is to provide education, advocacy and community connections which empower people to access and engage in a local, resilient, and sustainable food system.

TYPES OF POTENTIAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Almost every program on our website is open to volunteering!

  • Community gardens
  • Foodbox program
  • Workshops
  • Events
  • Tool library
  • Background work of fundraising, technology, governance, and admin!

In our ongoing operations, we are constantly embarking on new construction projects so construction and handyman skills are also an asset.

As an organization, we believe in caring for the earth, caring for people, caring for the future, through positive transition and a right to livelihood. We strive to see the Sunshine Coast participating in and becoming a role model for a diverse, connected, thriving and sovereign local food system.
