The mandate of the St. Bart’s Food Bank is to support those in our community who are disadvantaged, food-insecure, marginalized and/or facing poverty. We are the only “no barrier” Food Bank in Gibsons. All persons are welcome and no one is ever turned away! We provide food hampers, fresh produce, protein and household items to > 250 people per month. We are volunteer-run and donor dependent. We also offer a community hot-lunch program every month at no charge.

Our Food Bank is held the 3rd Wednesday of every month.

HOW OUR VOLUNTEERS SUPPORT US

Stocking shelves; making hampers; bagging bulk goods; sorting donations; assisting clients on Food Bank Day; collecting boxes; keeping a volunteer spreadsheet; assisting at donation events or fund-raisers; preparing/serving fresh food for Community Hot Lunch program;

We also host fundraising events in November/December and in the Spring of each year. Annual Food Drives and “bagging” at Super Value to make up Food bags to be purchased by customers.

Our volunteers help others in our community that face food insecurity – but they also tell us that they have FUN! We always try to match our volunteers with opportunities that best correspond with their interests and skills. We have strong, caring leaders who are committed to ensuring that our volunteers have a positive experience working at St. Barts!
